Benitez playing hard ball as Newcastle United slap £20m price tag on Euro 2016 star

Newcastle United will play hard ball and demand a £20m fee for want-away winger Moussa Sissoko, according to the Sunderland Echo.

The 26-year old, who can operate as a winger or an attacking midfielder in a central role, has made it clear that he has no intention of playing Championship football next season.

A French international has been capped 35 times by Les Blues and is currently preparing for the home nation’s campaign for the European Championships.

He still harbours aspirations to represent the national side and believes that top league football is his only option to maintain his squad space.

Yesterday, the former Toulouse man suggested he would be looking to leave the Magpies amid links with Arsenal, a team he described as ‘beautiful’.

Mike Ashley is believed to have assured Rafael Benitez that he doesn’t have to sell any players if he doesn’t want to.

With that in mind, the Spaniard is understood to have placed a hefty £20m transfer fee to avoid losing him on the cheap.

Newcastle fans – what do you think? Would you cash in on Sissoko? Do you like Benitez’s approach?
