Newcastle United recorded yet another victory in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend, as they continue to set the standard for a return to the Premier League.

Benitez’s side battled hard for a 1-0 victory at Wolves on Saturday evening to return to the top of the Championship table, after Brighton and Hove Albion had momentarily overtaken them earlier in the day.

Aleksander Mitrovic scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time, though was lucky to be on the pitch following a clash with Wolves’ goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.

The Magpies face Play-Off chasing Norwich City on Tuesday evening as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table.

However, Alex Neil’s side are in good form, following their 5-1 demolition of Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

After a scrappy win, we look at TWO players Benitez must consider dropping ahead of the midweek clash:

Jack Colback

Colback was stepping into the side to replace Isaac Hayden, alongside Jonjo Shelvey in the heart of Newcastle’s midfield.

The former Sunderland midfielder has been under pressure from fans this season, following a run of poor performances.

Colback has failed to score or create a goal in his 13 league appearances this season, and with Hayden rested and recovered from an ankle injury, Benitez may look to make a change to his midfield.

Mo Diame

Diame was another who failed to impress during Saturday’s victory over Wolves, where he played behind Mitrovic in attack.

Christian Atsu came on as a half-time substitute for Mitrovic, and will be pushing for a place in the starting line-up against Norwich, following his return from the African Cup of Nations.

Benitez will also have the option to revert to a 4-5-1 formation, with Dwight Gayle returning from a hamstring injury.

Alternatively, Gayle could partner Saturday’s goal scorer Mitrovic in a two-man attack.
