Benik Afobe has sent a message to Bristol City fans after the postponement of all EFL games was confirmed on Friday, with no action to take place until April.

The Robins are still pushing for a place in the play-offs but one fan found a positive in the news, sharing on Instagram that the enforced break would likely mean that Afobe would be match fit for the return of the action.

The fan tagged the striker in the message and he responded, writing on his own Instagram story: "God works in mysterious ways fella".

Can you remember where these 15 ex-Bristol City players moved after leaving?

Afobe made the move to Ashton Gate on loan from Stoke City on deadline day during the summer transfer window but suffered a cruciate ligament injury after just six appearances, during which he netted three goals.

Ever since he has been in rehabilitation but returned to training in the past few weeks with Lee Johnson previously confirming that they hoped to have him back in action by April.

As things stand, the Robins sit in seventh place with just nine matches of the campaign remaining, one point adrift of sixth-placed Preston North End with a clash with Blackburn Rovers awaiting them when the season does finally restart.

The verdict

Every cloud and all of that I suppose!

But it is a good point from the fan. If this break does allow Bristol City to come back stronger with the help of Afobe they could find themselves building momentum really nicely for the play-offs.

That could still be a while away yet, but there is no harm in considering the possibilities I suppose.
