It's safe to say that it's been a frustrating season for Benik Afobe, with the Stoke City striker spending this year's campaign on loan with Bristol City.

The former Wolves man started the 2019/20 season strongly though, as he scored three goals in Bristol City's opening four matches in the Championship.

But the forward missed a number of matches with a knee injury, which put a sizeable dent in the Robins' bid for a top-six finish in the second tier this term.

Bristol City finished 12th in the Championship table, and seven points adrift of the play-off places, much to the frustration of the club's supporters.

In total, Afobe made 13 appearances for Bristol City, and scored three goals with the Robins, as he returned to Stoke City ahead of the new season.

/CDHfLSeJSsK/">Afobe took to Instagram to send a heartwarming message to the club's supporters, and admitted that the club will remain close to his heart for the rest of his career.

It remains to be seen as to what the future holds for Afobe, with Stoke City looking to bounce back from a disappointing league campaign in the Championship.

The Potters finished 15th in the second tier this term, and will be hoping they can find some much-needed consistency in their results next season.

The Verdict:

He'll be hoping to stay injury-free next season, that's for sure.

Afobe has previously shown what he can do in the Championship, but this season was one to forget for the Stoke City striker whilst on loan with Bristol City.

If he can stay injury-free, then I think he could be the striker to fire Stoke City up the Championship table next season, as they look to challenge for promotion back into the Premier League.

If Afobe had stayed fit this season, then I would have backed Bristol City to finish in the top-six this term.
