In an interview with the Express & Star, Benik Afobe has revealed how the team is dealing with issues out of their control.

Wolves have a huge match coming up against Aston Villa which will have a massive impact on the final league standings.

However, the build up has been dominated by Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani's comments, after the game against Leeds game in midweek, about the legality of the connection between the Wolves board and Jorge Mendes.

Afobe made it clear in his interview that Nuno Santo wants to them to ignore anything external: "The manager's been talking to us saying don't listen to what people are saying,"

"We're seen some stories about the agency and stuff but none of us believe in that. We're a strong unit."

He also emphasised the unity and confidence flowing though the team: "On the bench we celebrate more than the players on the pitch sometimes! It's a great squad, a family club and when you're winning and top of the league how can you not be happy.

"We believe in ourselves 100 per cent."

The Verdict

The Wolves squad have shown their resiliency throughout the season because any dip in form has been addressed and they have maintained consistency through the entire season.

It was unlikely that these comments were going to affect them and it appears that Nuno Santo was quick to ensure it would have little influence on his team. The sense of unity in the team means that they will be hard to beat going into the final run in, and the confidence they have in themselves and the manager will be vital in the upcoming games.
