The striker, who has attracted severe interest from Premier League clubs over the summer transfer window, is keen to help Wolves get into the top-flight of English football.

Afobe scored his fourth goal of the season in Wolves' 2-1 shock defeat to Bolton Wanderers as he continues to excel in the Sky Bet Championship.

And now it has become clear that the talismanic forward is focused on his Wolves career despite admitting that facing interest from the Premier League was difficult.

Speaking to the Express and Star, the ex-Arsenal striker said: "It's been a difficult few weeks. I've tried to keep out of it.

"It's the first time it's ever happened to me in my career. You put Sky Sports on and see yourself on breaking news.

You've got training the next day, the boys are having a bit of banter with you and it's hard, because all I want to do it play with a smile on my face and enjoy my football.

"Now it's all over I'm happy I'm still here and I've got unfinished business with Wolves."

The striker was subject to significant interest from a number of Premier League clubs and was reportedly faced with a £10m bid from an unnamed club.

Wolves fans would have no doubt been worried that the interest would lure their star man away from the club, but the speculation has had the opposite effect in Afobe's mind.

He added: "Every player wants to play in the Premier League, I'm not going to stand here and say I didn't want to play in the Premier League, but it's about the right time and the right place.

"I've only been at Wolves for six months and I definitely believe I need to stay here and play from the beginning of the season, with Wolves, and give ourselves the best shot of playing in the Premier League next season."

His enthusiasm for the Sky Bet Championship club is clear for all to see as he strives to help them find their form. The club are outside favourites for promotion this season and the striker hopes to achieve that goal.

Whether or not Afobe will be subject to more interest from elsewhere in the January transfer window remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that the forward is fully focused on the task ahead for Kenny Jackett's side.
