Leeds United defender Ben White has praised his side's defensive performance during the 1-0 victory over Reading as they restricted their opponents to just two shots on target during the clash.

Marcelo Bielsa's side followed up last week's 1-0 win over Bristol City by seeing off Reading in the same scoreline, with key man Pablo Hernandez netting the decisive goal as the Whites went on to secure their second consecutive clean sheet.

Leeds have now claimed seven points from their last nine games to help overcome a run of form which saw them lose ground in the promotion race, with the Elland Road outfit having gone 11 games without keeping a clean sheet prior to last week's win.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, White has said it was frustrating that Leeds were not able to find the net for the first hour of the game, but he then claimed the most important thing was that the Whites held on to their clean sheet until the end.

"Obviously we had quite a few chances but we scored one and they didn't," White said.
"It was frustrating obviously that we didn't score for an hour or so but I was confident that we were going to and the main thing was we kept the clean sheet.
"They only had one chance in the game and it came in the 93rd minute so it was lucky that Kiko was on his toes.
"Keeping them down to a minimum of one chance is good." White has been one of Leeds' stand-out performers this campaign with the Brighton loanee having played every minute of league action for his side since the start of the season, and he has been key to any of the Whites' defensive success.

The Verdict

The victory was obviously Leeds' main priority over the weekend as they looked to continue their improved run of form, but the enormity of another clean sheet should not be understated as the defence starts to re-discover their early-season form.

White has been producing consistently strong performances alongside Liam Cooper in defence this season, and the fact Reading didn't really have a serious opportunity until the end of the game proves how well the Whites defended on Saturday.
It will now be interesting to see whether Leeds can build a run of clean sheets as they aim to cement their top-two spot, as the organisation of this Leeds defence means they are certainly capable of doing so.
