Moore has been wedded to a three at the back formation for the most part since the club's relegation to League One, which has seen the Owls prioritise centre back recruitment.

Mark McGuinnes returning to Cardiff City this month may accelerate Heneghan's return to the first team when he is fit to do so.

The Verdict

There has been very little margin for error this season for Wednesday, given the excellent starts that Argyle and Ipswich made, but with Josh Windass hitting form at the right time and a strong bond created within the squad, it would be a surprise to see them drop out of the top two from now and the campaign's conclusion.

Heneghan has never played in the Championship and would have had concerns over his career trajectory as the Dons slid down the table last season, but his quick adaptation to life at Hillsborough and will have left a lasting impression on supporters.

It will be interesting to see if he plays any part at the business end of the season.
