Former Charlton Athletic players Ben Hamer and Simon Church have taken to Twitter to react to a throwback post about the Addicks' FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday in 2014.

Yesterday was the six-year anniversary of the game, in which the Addicks, who were managed by Chris Powell at the time, beat Wednesday 2-1 at Hillsborough to secure a place in the FA Cup Quarter-Finals.

Callum Harriott smashed home the opener after 22 minutes but the Owls got one back after half-time through Leon Best.

Church headed in the decisive goal in the 65th minute, nodding in Johnnie Jackson's free-kick.

Hamer proved the Addicks hero later on in the tie, miraculously stopping Atdhe Nuhiu's header on the line.

Charlton were beaten by Sheffield United in the Quarter-Finals but it remains a fantastic FA Cup run for the South London club, who were fighting relegation at the time.

With Charlton set to face Wednesday tomorrow, highlights of the game were posted on the club's official Twitter account, which appears to have caught the attention of fans and players alike.

Both Hamer, who now plays for Derby County, and Church, who retired in 2018, took to Twitter to post their reactions to the throwback.

The Verdict

Despite losing to the Blades in the Quarter-Final, Charlton's FA Cup run in the 2013/14 campaign was an exciting one for the Addicks.

The South London side picked up away wins against Oxford United, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday as they went deep into the competition.

Addicks fans will likely love to see Hamer and Church's reactions to the footage.

Charlton will have to wait until next season for another cup run, having been knocked out of both domestic cups already this year.
