Leeds United's transfer business continues to gather pace this summer, with plenty of players linked with moves in and out of the club.

Marcelo Bielsa's men are, as usual, being connected with a host of new players, but interestingly, Bielsa also seems keen to allow some of his players to move on to pastures new.

One of those players who we could see on his ways is midfielder Adam Forshaw, who has been strongly linked with a move to Fulham following their relegation from the Premier League.

And today, former Leeds striker Noel Whelan has spoken of his interest in seeing young Leeds midfielder Jamie Shackleton step into the potential void Forshaw will leave, with Whelan believing the youngster can more than fill Forshaw's slot.

The youngster has impressed when given the chance in the XI for the Whites, and the step into more regular football under Bielsa is the obvious next step for a player who will be keen to make a big impression next season.

But is Whelan right, and can Shackleton step up as he says? We asked our writing team here at FLW for their thoughts on the matter...

Lee Connor

"I've not seen enough of Shackleton to say that he can definitely come in and have a massive impact.

"I have however seen enough of Forshaw in a Leeds shirt to say that it won't be too hard to replace what he's brought to the table at Elland Road.

"He's looked a shadow of the player he was at Brentford to be honest, and for whatever reason doesn't seem to be fitting in right.

"Shackleton has ability, so he can probably come in and do just as well as Forshaw in the long run".

Jacob Potter

"He's spot on.
"For a start, I already think that Shackleton is a better player to have in their squad than Forshaw is, as he looked like a player that struck fear into the opposition with his direct style of play.
"Forshaw didn't score or assist at all last season, and I think he'd be making the right decision in moving to Fulham for a fresh start.
"Shackleton has age on his side, and if his performances towards the end of last season are anything to go by, then he's got a bright future ahead of him in my eyes."

Chris Gallagher

"He is spot on.
"The youngster has been superb when given a chance and it's time for him to step up to have a more important role now.
"So, losing Forshaw wouldn't be a massive problem and the money brought in could be used to help the side elsewhere.
"Bielsa has proven in the past he isn't scared to give youngsters a chance and Shackleton will be the next talented player to come through Thorp Arch to make a real name for himself."
