‘Beautiful gesture’ – A buzz surrounds these Leeds United fans following club update

A further update has emerged from Leeds United, as they put plans in place to refund supporters who have pre-purchased tickets for upcoming Championship fixtures and season ticket holders.

Leeds are facing the certainty of playing behind closed doors in the Championship if the campaign can resume, with public safety taking ultimate priority at this moment in time.

On the back of last week’s initial statement, Leeds have provided further details of their process, including refunds for those that had tickets for fixtures against Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers.

In time, season ticket holders will learn what the process for their refunds will be, but on social media, a large group of fans are wavering their option of a refund, telling the club they want the money to remain within the club.

That’s the stance of a large proportion of Leeds fans, which has brought a good feeling to the Leeds United Facebook feed.

With that in mind, we dive into some of the reaction…

Sam Jackson: “I hope there is an option to decline the refund. I appreciate everybody’s opinion on this is different but my own opinion is I’m not bothered. A complimentary new Adidas shirt for our Premier League return wouldn’t go a miss like. But the club can keep my money.”

Bren Phillips: “That sums up LUFC and the fans in a single post. I don’t have a season ticket but have been buying from the shop as much as possible to try help even a little. For people to refuse refunds and promise to put it straight back into the club is a beautiful gesture.”

Daniel Greenwood: “Keep the cash and just give vouchers to use in the bar/club shop for the same value for season ticket holders! Will cost the club less and fans still get something.”

Ken Hindsley: “Just give us vouchers for a new home and away shirt for all us season ticket holders. The money then stays in the club.”

Jeremy Syms: “I’m not a season ticket holder at the moment ( I was for 12 years) and the comments I’ve read so far sum up the terrific Leeds supporters. ‘ keep the money and give me a shirt, or free LUTV or vouchers. Reading these comments makes me very proud of my fellow supporters.”

Angela McPartlan: “I feel really valued as a supporter of our wonderful club. Wasn’t expecting any sort of refund.”

Craig Scott: “A classy gesture from the club that says a lot about our current ownership. Getting refunds from some organisations has been like pulling teeth but LUFC isn’t even asking for applications. Top marks yet again. MOT!”
