Sheffield Wednesday summer signing Julian Borner has made a strong start to life at the Yorkshire club and many Owls fans have been full of praise for the German centre-back.

Borner signed as a free agent in the summer and has been integral under both Lee Bullen and Garry Monk this season–starting in every single Championship game.

Despite his central defensive partners having changed due to injury, the 28-year-old has helped Wednesday to keep four clean sheets, was named their Player of the Month for August and featured in last week’s WhoScored Team of the Week.

Borner’s performances have helped the Owls to eighth place in the Championship, just three points behind league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

Wednesday fans may have been worried after seeing last season’s Player of the Season Michael Hector leave at the end of his loan and not return this summer but Borner has proved the solution to that problem so far.

Borner saw his contract expire with Bundesliga 2 side Arminia Bielefeld in the summer and was something of a left-field signing by the Yorkshire club.

However, he has proved a success so far and many Owls fans have taken to Twitter today to praise the German.
