A number of Derby County fans have been reacting to the latest comments made by Sam Allardyce suggesting that is open to a return to management and would be open to taking over at a struggling Championship side.
The Rams have been without a manager since dismissing Phillip Cocu a few weeks ago and it has been reported that they will not appoint the Dutchman’s successor until their ownership situation is resolved. Wayne Rooney has now been placed in sole charge of the first-team and managed to secure his first three points in the role on Saturday at Millwall.
That win did lift the Rams off the bottom of the league and to within two points of safety. However, they still need to make sure that they provide some certainty over who is going to be in charge for the rest of the campaign as soon as possible given they are currently embroiled in a potentially long relegation battle.
Allardyce is a vastly experienced manager and has taken both Bolton Wanderers and West Ham to promotion from the English second tier in his career, while he is also used to coming into sides at the bottom end of a division and helping to lift them away from relegation danger.
Quiz: Which club did Derby County sell each of these 20 players to?
The former England manager has been out of work for a prolonged period now since leaving Everton at the end of the 2017/18 campaign, and speaking on EFL on Quest he revealed his eagerness to get back into football if the right job came along. He also hinted at the prospect of taking over a Championship side and rebuilding something which would suit Derby’s current position.
Many Derby fans believe that this was Allardyce letting the Rams know of his potential interest in the job and urged them to make contact with the former England manager.
Here then, we take a look at some of the best reactions on social media…

If he would come, which it sounds like he would, it would be ridiculous for us not to appoint him!
