Barry Douglas is seeking a second promotion from the Championship with Leeds United this season after starring with Wolves at this level in the past.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side won the title in 2018 and whilst they were promoted comfortably in the end, there were many crucial moments along the way.

The most dramatic was a 1-0 success at promotion rivals Cardiff, with the Bluebirds incredibly missing two stoppage time penalties as Wanderers somehow picked up three points.

And, Douglas has been reflecting on that, telling Wolves' official site that it was one of the best games he has been involved in.

"For heart palpitations, it was; definitely. Chaos. Chaos would be putting it politely. My heartrate was going through the roof.

"It was a kick in the teeth to have the penalty given so late on after the work we had done throughout the game, but as weird as it sounds, we were quietly confident. We just had that winning belief and mentality."

The 30-year-old hasn't made the same impact in Yorkshire as he he did in the West Midlands, with Douglas featuring in just 11 Championship games this season.

The verdict

This was a game that Wolves fans and players will remember for a long time as it's truly remarkable to see a side miss two injury-time penalties, never mind in a huge promotion fixture.

So, Douglas' words will resonate with Wolves fans and they will have been feeling exactly the same during that mad five-minute spell.

Such experiences could help Douglas as he looks to play his part in helping Leeds over the line when the season eventually resumes.
