Blackburn Rovers endured a disappointing result in the Championship last night, going down 4-2 to early season leaders, Reading FC.

Yakou Meite, Michael Olise, Josh Laurent and Lucas Joao were all on the scoresheet for the Royals at Ewood Park, with Blackburn's goals coming in the form of a familiar outlet.

Adam Armstrong struck on three minutes and again on 66 minutes, taking his tally to the season to nine goals in only eight Championship appearances.

Blackburn Rovers quiz: Are these 10 facts about Ewood Park true or false?

The striker took to Instagram in wake of last night's defeat to deliver his verdict, which prompted a response from new Rovers teammate, Douglas.

The Leeds United loanee issued a clear response, labelling his teammate a 'player'.

Armstrong's first goal was a clinical finish after Harvey Elliott's cross from the right, with his second coming from a similar position. Joe Rankin-Costello whipped a ball in, which was met by a glancing header from Armstrong.

Ultimately, neither of his goals were enough to secure any points for Rovers, who sit 12th and three points adrift of the play-off picture at this moment in time.

The Verdict

Armstrong is on fire at the moment.

Nine goals in just eight appearances this season is some return and, in many ways, he's carrying Blackburn's leaky defence with his constant scoring.

Matching his efforts at the other end of the pitch will give Tony Mowbray's side a great chance of pushing on this season.
