Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan took to Instagram to react after making his comeback from injury against Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

Bannan had been out for almost a month with a hamstring injury, but made his return as a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw with the Cod Army in the FA Cup fourth round at Hillsborough.

Promise Omochere gave the visitors the lead early in the second half, but Josh Earl's own goal ensured a replay at Highbury Stadium would be needed to determine who progresses to the fifth round, which will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season.

Wednesday are now 21 games unbeaten in all competitions and Bannan's availability is a huge boost ahead of two crucial league games against fellow automatic promotion contenders Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town.

The Owls' captain has again been influential this season with four goals and six assists and he will now be hoping to stay fit after an injury-disrupted period in recent months.

After the game, Bannan shared a message with the club's supporters on his social media.

"Great to be back out there today thanks for all your support and the ovation I received much appreciated see you all next Saturday," Bannan wrote on his Instagram.

Wednesday currently sit second in the League One table are back in action in the top of the table home clash with the Pilgrims next Saturday.

The Verdict

Bannan's return is a huge boost for Wednesday.

Darren Moore will be pleased that his side found a way to win without Bannan as the Owls have previously accused of being too reliant on their talisman, securing four consecutive victories in his absence.

But there is no doubt of the importance of Bannan to the team and he is arguably the best player in the division on his day, so Moore will be delighted to have him back.

With George Byers also making his comeback against the Cod Army, both players will significantly strengthen the Owls' midfield options.
