It's safe to say that it's been a frustrating season for Sheffield Wednesday, who are struggling for positive results heading into the final nine games of this year's campaign.

The Owls had previously occupied a spot in the play-off positions, but a dismal run of form since the turn of the New Year has seen them slide down the table at an alarming rate.

One player that has been impressive for Sheffield Wednesday over the years is Barry Bannan, who has made () appearances in total for the club since arriving at Hillsborough back in 2015 from Crystal Palace.

Speaking in an interview on the Claret & Blue podcast, Bannan admitted that he has enjoyed his time with Sheffield Wednesday, but expressed his eagerness to be playing Premier League football in the future.

"I have been at the club for five years now, which is a long time, and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

"The only down point I would say is I have not got the club to the Premier League yet and that is something I want to do before I finish my career."

But Bannan went on to admit that he is keen to repay the Sheffield Wednesday supporters in the near future, in what has been a difficult few years for the club in the Championship.

"Hopefully I have got another five or six good years ahead of me. Touch wood, I stay clear from injuries and stuff like that but I want to play in the Premier League.

"I want to repay our fans back at Sheffield Wednesday for the support they have given me over the years and I want to get the club back to the Premier League if I can."

The Verdict:

I think he's more than good enough to be playing in the Premier League.

Bannan has shown in previous seasons that he can unlock opposition defences with relative ease at times whilst with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls need a miracle if they're going to finish inside the top-six this season in the Championship, and you can't blame Bannan for revealing that he wants to play in the Premier League before the end of his career.

It'll be interesting to see whether he'll remain with the Owls ahead of next year's campaign.
