Following Peterborough United's relegation to League One last season, Ryan Broom was one of the names in the squad added to the transfer list after the 25-year-old spent last season on loan with Plymouth.

The midfielder being available for transfer comes as little surprise considering in the 2020/21 season he made just 15 appearances for the Posh in League One.

However, as it stands, it hasn't been an easy task to get him a move yet.

Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry recently confirmed that there had been interest in the player with an 'excellent' deal lined up with a fellow League One club.

However, the player declined to speak to the club.

At the time, Fry suggested the unnamed club could possibly be Barnsley given his former boss Michael Duff is in charge at Oakwell.

However, according to the Peterborough Telegraph, the Tykes have insisted that they have no interest in the midfielder this summer.

It's also thought that Plymouth, where he spent his time last season, are not the club who put an offer on the table for him either.

As the season edges closer, it will be interesting to see if there's any movement on this one.

However, given his reluctancy to speak to this club, it's likely they could walk away.

The Verdict:

It's hard to judge Broom's decision completely as we don't know the club but given they seem to have put a very good offer on the table, it seems a surprise that the player is unwilling to talk especially as he knows he won't be playing for the Posh next season.

You can understand why Barry Fry named Barnsley as the club potentially interested in him given his links with Michael Duff.

However, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that they have claimed no interest in him as they are a side who are hoping to go up to the Championship next season and Broom's football league record so far doesn't suggest he would be a player to add to that push.

Nevertheless, Fry will be hopeful that if another club come up with an offer for the 25-year-old, he will be more open to considering it.
