Barnsley have made remarkable improvements in recent months, with Valérien Ismaël's side now in serious contention to challenge for promotion into the Premier League.

The Tykes are unbeaten in their last 12 league matches and will be looking to keep that impressive run of form going for as long as possible.

Ismaël's side are currently sat fifth in the Championship table, and five points clear of seventh-placed AFC Bournemouth with nine matches remaining in this year's league campaign.

The club have had their fair share of younger players that have been on the scoresheet over the years, but do you know how Barnsley's top-ten youngest ever goalscorers are?

Find out who kicks us off on the list at number ten, on the next page....

Kyel Reid is the first player up on the list, with the former Barnsley man scoring his first goal for the club at the age of 19, just two days after his birthday.

He scored the goal in a 2-0 win over Southend United back in November 2006. Reid spent one season with the Yorkshire-based club, before departing in the summer of 2007, as he returned to West Ham United from his loan spell at Oakwell.

Reid has since gone on to play for the likes of Bradford City, Coventry City and Preston North End, before dropping into the lower leagues of English football in recent years.

He is now 33, and is currently with National League South side Billericay Town, who have had their 2020/21 campaign cut short due to the current off-the-field situation.

Ugbo netted his first goal for the club at the age of 18 and ten months, as he got on the scoresheet against in August 2017.

His goal came against League Two side Morecambe in the EFL Cup, in a game that the Tykes eventually ran out 4-3 winners, in a frantic match at Oakwell.

That was the only goal that Ugbo scored in his time with the Tykes, as he returned to Chelsea from his loan spell with Barnsley.

Ugbo is still with Chelsea, but has since been with MK Dons, Scunthorpe United and Roda JC on loan since leaving Barnsley, and is now playing his football for Belgian side Cercle Brugge in his fifth loan spell away from Stamford Bridge.

Michael Coulson is the second player on the list with a goal against Southend United. The former Barnsley winger scored for the Tykes against them in the FA Cup back in January 2007 at the age of 18 years and nine months old.

Coulson struggled for consistent game time with Barnsley in his four-year spell with the club, and was out on loan with the likes of Chester City and Grimsby Town whilst with the Yorkshire-based club.

The midfielder left the club permanently in 2010, and later went on to sign for Grimsby Town on a permanent deal, after impressing in his loan spell.

Coulson has also played for the likes of York City and St Johnstone later down the line in his career.

Former Barnsley midfielder Nicky Wroe is seventh on the list, as he scored his first goal for the Tykes at the age of 18 years and seven months old.

Wroe scored the goal against Stockport County in the Second Division back in 2004, and went on to spend four years with the club after coming through their youth academy.

He has since gone on to feature for the likes of Torquay United, Shrewsbury Town, and Preston North End, before settling with Bradford Park Avenue.

But after leaving them in 2019, Wroe finished his playing career with a season at Boston United.

Nyatanga is next up, with the former Barnsley defender being sixth on the list with his goal against Plymouth Argyle in March 2007, as Barnsley ran out 4-2 winners on the day whilst at the age of 18 years and six months.

The defender spent two years with the club on loan from Derby County first, which is where he scored his first goal for the Yorkshire-based side.

But he later went on to sign for Barnsley permanently in 2013 and played his part in the club's promotion winning season in the 2015/16 campaign.

He departed the club in 2017, and is yet to find a club since leaving Oakwell.

Mason Holgate is the first name in the top-five, with the former Barnsley defender scoring his first goal for the club at the age of 18 years and six months, although his goal came 13 days younger than Nyatanga's.

He scored the goal in a 5-0 thrashing of Rochdale in May 2015, and has since gone on to bigger and better things than Barnsley.

Holgate signed for Everton in 2015, and has gone on to establish himself as their first-choice right-back whilst under the management of Carlo Ancelotti.

The full-back has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season for the Toffees, who are currently sat () in the Premier League standings.

Harry Chapman is next up, with the winger scoring his first Barnsley goal at the age of 18 and four months. The goal came against Walsall in a 3-1 win for the Tykes back in March 2016.

That was Chapman's only goal of his loan spell with Barnsley, before he returned to parent club Middlesbrough. He has since gone on to feature for the likes of Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers.

His good run of form with Blackburn saw him sign for them permanently in 2019, but he is currently out on loan with Shrewsbury Town at this moment in time.

Chapman has made 12 appearances for Salop in all competitions this term, and will be eager to finish this year's campaign strongly.

John Stones is the first name in the top-three of this list, with the former Barnsley defender scoring his first senior goal for the club at the age of 18 years and two months old.

Stones was hugely impressive since coming through Barnsley's academy, and featured regularly for the Tykes. His first goal for the club came against Rochdale, in a game that they ended up winning 4-3 in extra time in the EFL Cup.

Stones left the club in 2013 in favour of a move to Premier League side Everton, but has certainly had an impressive rise to the top since leaving Barnsley.

He moved to Manchester City in 2016, and has gone on to establish himself as a regular in Pep Guardiola's starting XI this season, as they edge closer to another Premier League title this term.

Midfielder Dan Crowley narrowly misses out on top spot, with the former Barnsley man scoring his first goal for the club at the age of 18 years and 23 days.

The goal came against Everton in the EFL Cup, in a game that Barnsley ended up losing 5-3 in extra time back in August 2015.

It came against Millwall back in a 1-0 win in 2011 in the Championship, and there was no better time for him to make his mark on the game, as it proved to be the winner on the day.

Noble-Lazarusleft the club in 2015, and went on to play for the likes of Rochdale, Chorley and Golcar United. But he is now playing his football in the Vanarama National League with FC Halifax Town.

They're currently sat sixth in the table, and will be hoping they can finish this year's campaign as strongly as possible.
