Vasco da Gama are set to complete the signing of Mario Balotelli on a free transfer, according to The Sun.
The former Manchester City and Inter Milan striker is a free-agent after leaving Brescia at the end of last season, but is on the verge of signing for a new club.
Championship side Barnsley have recently been linked with an audacious swoop for the Italian, who has previously worked under chairman Paul Conway at Nice.

The club did hold talks with Balotelli regarding a potential move to Oakwell, but the striker became less and less interested as talks progressed.
Now, according to The Sun, Balotelli is on the brink of signing for a new club, with Brazilian side Vasco da Gama set to sign the forward.
It brings a close to what was a surprising rumour, as Valerien Ismael looks to bring in a new striker in the January transfer window.
It would have been a massive statement of intent and a big surprise if Barnsley did end up completing a deal to sign Balotelli.
He has played at the highest level, he has won many trophies and he is a massive name, who would have perhaps been a risky signing for Barnsley given his previous off-field issues.
Ismael will now look to bring in a new striker and provide competition for the likes of Cauley Woodrow and Conor Chaplin, as the Tykes look to have a successful season.
