It's a frustrating time for players and supporters in the football world, with all fixtures in the UK being called to an abrupt halt due to the off-the-field crisis.

There has been potential talk of a voided season, but EFL chairman Rick Parry has recently put forward a proposal to have the EFL season completed in the space of 56 days.

Barnsley are one of the teams struggling in the Championship this season, with Gerhard Struber's side being seven points adrift of safety with nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

Sections of the Oakwell faithful might be forgiven for wanting the season voided, as it would see them retain their Championship status for another season.

One player that has been impressive despite their struggles in the Championship this season is Cauley Woodrow, who has scored 14 goals in his 31 league appearances to date.

Speaking in an interview with the Yorkshire Post, Woodrow made the somewhat surprising admission that he wants the season to be completed at some stage this year.

"I love playing football and if the season can be finished, I’d like to finish the season. It has been a good season for me personally and I’d like to finish.

"If that is the decision they make, we will have to get on with it as players to get it finished."

Woodrow went on to state that finishing the season in a short space of a time is a tough ask, but insists that players can't have any complaints over any proposal that is put forward by the relevant authorities.

"It is going to be tough, but at the same time, we are players and have got to be fit and ready for the games. If that is the case, we will have to stay fit as well and stay away from injuries to get through those games.

"Ultimately, it is our job and we will have to get on with it."

The Verdict:

You can see where he's coming from, but I'm sure Barnsley fans wouldn't mind the season being voided!

They're not in a great position at the moment in the second tier, and a voided season would give them a lifeline in retaining their Championship status for another season.

It'll be interesting to see whether Woodrow sticks around with Barnsley next season, especially if they're playing their football in League One, which is looking as though it could be a real possibility give their recent struggles.

He's already shown that he's a class apart in the Tykes' team this season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him depart in the summer for a high-placed side in the Championship.
