Barnsley are interested in Bristol City midfielder and former loanee Josh Brownhill, and are keen to bring him back to Oakwell, according to a report by HITC Sport.
Brownhill, 21, spent the second half of last season on loan with the Tykes and played a big part in the club’s promotion to the second tier.
He made a total of 25 appearances for the club throughout that loan spell and netted 3 times in the process.
Brownhill only joined current club Bristol City in the summer but has found first team opportunities hard to come by.
The former Manchester United trainee is a technically gifted, ball playing midfielder, he certainly has the ability to be a star player in the Sky Bet Championship in years to come however, his growth has been stunted by his lack of first team opportunities.
Barnsley’s star striker Sam Winnall looks set to depart to South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday and with a battle on to keep hold of other star men Conor Hourihane and Marc Roberts, the arrival of Brownhill could be a welcome boost to the club.
Barnsley fans, what do you make to this potential incoming? Would Brownhill improve your current crop of players? Let us know your thoughts below!
