23rd hosts 24th when Derby County travel to Barnsley this evening for a bottom-of-the-table Championship clash.

The Yorkshire club are currently on a run of seven successive Championship losses and are without a second-tier win for 13 games.

It has been form that has seen Markus Schopp sacked this week, and with lots of names being thrown into the ring, it is still very unclear who the next manager might be.

Derby are the current occupiers of bottom spot in the league, but they are only in 24th position because of their points deduction.

The Rams have been docked 12 points for entering administration, but they now find themselves seven points away from escaping the relegation zone.

Wayne Rooney's side will be viewing this as an excellent opportunity to continue their push to escape relegation from the second-tier this season, but equally, the departure of Schopp could be the change Barnsley need to spark back to life.

Latest team news

With all Barnsley news seemingly revolving around Schopp's departure and potential candidates for the now-vacant managerial position, there seems to be a lack of team news coming from The Tykes.

In this respect, no news could be good news, and with injuries and player unavailability haunting Schopp from the very start, it seems that Barnsley are starting to have a full-strength squad assembled.

Obbi Oulare, Aaron Leya Iseka and Josh Benson have all not seen as much football as they would have hoped but should be available for caretaker boss Jo Laumann.

As for Derby, Jason Knight could be back available, but Rooney confirmed to Derbyshire Live on Monday that they were carefully monitoring him and will make a decision accordingly.

Graeme Shinnie will also miss out after picking up five yellow cards this season, but it remains to be seen who will step in for the influential midfielder.

Ravel Morrison, Louie Sibley and Tom Lawrence all find themselves on four bookings coming into this clash.
