According to The Guardian sports journalist Ed Aarons, Barnsley defender Marc Roberts is set to join Premier League Burnley.
Aarons understands that the deal is “close”, in a £3.5m deal.
The 26-year-old has earned his way to the top by plying his trade in non-league.
The towering centre half started his career with Wakefield and had spells with Worksop Town, Buxton and Halifax Town before he secured a move to the Football League with then League One outfit Barnsley in 2015.
The 6’5” defender has gone on to make 67 appearances for the Tykes in all competitions, scoring three times.
This includes 25 matches this season and two goals.
He also has a red card to his name this year.
The no-nonsense centre back has been eyed by Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion but it looks like he will move to Burnley instead.
Barnsley have already lost Sam Winnall this January and could lose other stars such as Conor Hourihane, James Bree and Angus MacDonald.
