Barnsley have signed highly-rated goalkeeper Bradley Collins from Chelsea, the Championship club have confirmed.

The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract at Oakwell, following his release by Chelsea, with the option to extend his stay for another year.

The shot-stopper spent last season on loan at Burton Albion in League One and conceded 44 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions, keeping an impressive twelve clean sheets, including one against Barnsley at Oakwell.

The goalkeeper spent the previous season on loan at Forest Green Rovers and kept nine clean sheets in 45 appearances in all competitions, helping the team achieve survival in League Two.

Collins did not make a senior appearance for Chelsea, but impressed for their academy side and was part of the team that won the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup in 2014-15.

Adam Davies was the first-choice goalkeeper for Barnsley last season and kept 19 clean sheets in 42 league appearances, but has reportedly agreed a deal to move to Stoke City.

The Verdict

This would be a good signing for Barnsley and would be a good replacement for Adam Davies.

Collins already got a decent amount of experience in the EFL and clearly impressed Barnsley with his performance against them for Burton at Oakwell last season.

He did not make a senior appearance for Chelsea and there's no way that he was going to get his chance at Stamford Bridge next season ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga, so it makes sense for him to leave the club in search of regular football and he could be able to make an impact for Barnsley.
