League One Barnsley have bagged a double deal this morning, bringing in two players for the future.

They've snared the signatures of Elvis Otim, formerly of Nottingham Forest, and Jordan Barnett who has previously been with Burnley.

Otim has signed a one-year deal upon leaving the City Ground and will link up with the U23 side. He's an imposing midfielder who spent time on trial at Oakwell last season.

He told Barnsley's official site: “I am a central midfielder, but if I needed to fill in at: right back, right wing, left wing, behind the striker I can do that. I want to show what I’m made of and push on.”

He's joined by Jordan Barnett who recently left Premier League side Burnley. He's a local lad, having been scouted by the Clarets side while playing for Barnsley Sports Academy and Penistone Church.

The 18-year old can operate at left back or in midfield and also signs a one-year deal. He too will start out with the U23 side.

The Verdicts

Whilst news of players such as these signing often slips through the net, there might just be a gem waiting to burst out and earn the club promotion, or a big pay day.

Once upon a time a news story broke like this about David Brooks signing a one-year deal at Sheffield United, that worked out well for him did it not?
