Barnsley are said to be rivalling the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Bristol Rovers, Bury and Peterborough for AFC Fylde goalkeeper, Jay Lynch according to HITC Sport.

Lynch has been in good form for the Vanarama National League side this season and his impressive performances evidently haven't gone unnoticed.

Without him, AFC Fylde wouldn't have made the play-off final, where they were beaten 3-0 by Salford City at Wembley earlier this month.

But that defeat shouldn't distract from the excellent season that Lynch has had between the sticks for AFC Fylde in this year's campaign.

The 26-year-old has kept 21 clean sheets this season and was key to their promotion bid this season, which ultimately they fell short in.

Lynch is out of contract in the summer, and given his recent showings, it seems highly unlikely that he will remain with the National League club much longer.

With a number of Football League clubs interested in signing him, it certainly looks like this won't be the last we hear of a rumour linking with a move before the season starts in August.

The Verdict:

This could be a shrewd bit of business.

Lynch has been impressive this season for AFC Fylde and would be more than deserving of a move to a club in the Football League in the summer.

If Adam Davies is to depart, then this could be the ideal replacement for the goalkeeper in next year's league campaign.
