Daniel Stendel is thought to be keen on taking Exeter City's Christy Pym to Oakwell this summer as he plans for life without Adam Davies, as reported by Devon Live.

With his own keeper being linked with moves away from the club, he's set to do battle with Ipswich Town for the signature of the 24-year-old, who has impressed for the Grecians of late.

He featured for them heavily last season as they went all the way to the play-off final, losing to Coventry City, and has been a key player this season as they just missed out on the top seven.

His contract has run down and he's one of a couple of Exeter players likely to leave the club. Hiram Boateng is also out of contract and another of their stars looking to have appeared for the last time in red and white stripes.

Pym has played 127 times for the Grecians and has three England Under 20 caps to his name as well and is likely to attract a lot of interest over the summer.

Barnsley would be able to offer him Championship football, as they've replaced Ipswich in the second-tier.

The Verdict

This would be an incredibly wise move by Barnsley.

Pym is a solid shot stopper and one of the main reasons the Grecians were so successful in reaching Wembley last season.

They're not able to offer him the progression he needs though, whereas a vacancy for a keeper could be coming up at Oakwell. It would be a super move for the keeper and one he richly deserves.
