Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley are plotting a late move for Reading's 22-year-old striker Dominic Samuel, according to the Daily Mail's Deadline Day Blog (09:51 GMT).

Paul Heckingbottom is hoping Barnsley can have a strong end to the transfer window by strengthening his side today.

The departure of Sam Winnall to Sheffield Wednesday has left Barnsley somewhat short in the striker department.

This is something Heckingbottom is attempting to rectify today, identifying that another striker is essential to compete with Tom Bradshaw and Adam Armstrong.

It has emerged that Barnsley are showing a keen interest in Reading striker Dominic Samuel, who had been linked with a loan move away from the Berkshire club earlier in the window.

The Yorkshire club have opened negotiations with Reading as they attempt to thrash out a deal which would see the 22-year-old striker make the switch to Paul Heckingbottom's side.

It is a move that is likely to gather pace throughout the day as Barnsley look bring in a striker who can act as cover before the transfer window shuts.

Barnsley fans, what do you make of the news? Would you like to see Dominic Samuel join on deadline day? Do you agree that you need an extra striker as cover?
