Barnsley have had a very successful season, all things considered.

After gaining promotion via the League One play-offs last season, they were tipped by many to go down.

Over the course of the season, they have lost some key players: Alfie Mawson, James Bree, Conor Hourihane and Sam Winnall are the most obvious examples.

However, despite this, they have still had a respectable season and have finished comfortably in mid-table.

But the Tykes could be hit with another exodus this summer, with rumours linking star defender Marc Roberts and free scoring winger Marley Watkins away from Oakwell.

As well as the possible departure of Watkins, Barnsley will be without skilful wide man Ryan Kent, who will return to parent club Liverpool in the summer.

To replace Watkins and Kent, Barnsley should look to bring back Lloyd Isgrove.

The Southampton winger is out of contract in the summer and is unlikely to be handed a new deal by the Saints.

The 24-year-old will therefore be available on a free transfer and the Championship looks like a likely destination for the rapid winger.

Isgrove had a successful season with Barnsley, helping them to League One promotion last year, and the Tykes need to welcome him back.

The Wales international is a talented winger with a decent cross and he would thrive with regular game time in the second tier - something Barnsley would be able to provide.

The move seems like it suits both Barnsley and Lloyd Isgrove so this should be Paul Heckingbottom's priority this summer.
