Barnsley man makes admission following Aston Villa interest

Barnsley midfielder Conor Hourihane has admitted that his head has been turned a bit by interest from Aston Villa, reports the Birmingham Mail.

Following leading his current side to a 3-2 victory over Leeds United yesterday, Hourihane spoke to Sky Sports and made an admission about Villa and their manager Steve Bruce.

Hourihane said“Aston Villa is a fantastic club. When a manager like Steve Bruce comes looking for you, it does turn your head a little bit. But we’ll see what happens next week.”

It is the clearest indication yet that the Irishman could be on his way out of Oakwell and moving to Villa Park. The classy midfielder has been one of the star performers in the Championship this season, and underlined his quality with a superb free kick against Leeds yesterday.

Barnsley have already lost Sam Winnall this transfer window, and the loss of Hourihane will be a bitter blow to Paul Heckingbottom and his team should the deal go through.

Barnsley fans, what do you think? How much is your star man worth? Let us know in the comments!
