Barnsley defender Dimitri Cavare has reacted to the FA’s decision to hand his teammate Cameron McGeehan a three-match ban.

The midfielder was retrospectively punished for a previously unspotted incident during the Tykes’ 3-0 win against Southend United last weekend.

After the club tweeted a statement in response to the FA’s decision, Cavare replied with three emojis that gave you a pretty good impression of how he was feeling:

This weekend sees Barnsley welcome Accrington Stanley to Oakwell as they look to consolidate their position in League One’s automatic promotion spots.

Daniel Stendel’s side currently sit in second place with 35 games played as they look to make an immediate return to the Championship.

McGeehan has been one of the club’s most consistent performers this season, racking up 31 appearances and five goals in the process.

The verdict

I think the left-back summed up the feelings of the fans pretty concisely here.

It is a bafflingly harsh decision from the FA considering how accidental the incident was. It looks much worse than it actually is.

They are probably slightly guilty of taking the incident at face value too much and not considering other factors.
