Barnsley have announced their retained list for this season, ahead of their first season back in the Championship.

Barnsley have confirmed that out-of-contract players Adam Davies, Jake Greatorex and Ryan Hedges have all been offered new deals at Oakwell, while right-back Dimitri Cavare has signed a one-year extension.

The club also confirmed that out-of-contract players Lloyd Isgrove, Zeki Fryers and Adam Jackson have not been offered new deals and will all depart the club in the summer.

Head coach Daniel Stendel will be looking to considerably strengthen his squad in the transfer market this summer and build a team who can compete in the Championship next season.

The German has done a remarkable job in his first season in English football, guiding the club to automatic promotion from League One and just missing out on the title to Luton Town on the final day of the season.

The Verdict:

It's great news for Barnsley fans that Dimitri Cavare has signed a new contract and they will be hoping for the other three players who have been offered new deals to follow suit, especially captain Adam Davies.

Isgrove, Fryers and Jackson have all been important players for Barnsley over the past few seasons, but have not featured as much as they would have hoped this season, so it makes sense for them all to leave the club.
