Barnsley line up a move for Premier League midfielder as Hourihane replacement

According to The Sun, Barnsley are interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Matty James on loan.

Leicester are believed to be willing to loan James out to give him some experience and he is viewed as a replacement for Conor Hourihane, who looks set to join Aston Villa alongside Barnsley right back James Bree.

With Hourihane’s contract expiring in the summer, Barnsley are set to cash in on their impressive central midfielder but they need to snap up a replacement.

James has emerged as a key target as Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri is supposedly keen on loaning him out to improve his fitness.

Matty James suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury towards the end of the 2014/15 season, which saw him miss the whole of last season as Leicester shocked the world to win the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has been making his comeback in the under-23s but now could be set for a Championship loan.

Barnsley fans – is this a good replacement for Hourihane? What could James offer to your midfield? Can he overcome his injury? Let us know in the comments below…
