Forest Green Rovers have rejected two bids from Barnsley for defender Ethan Pinnock, according to HITC Sport.

HITC Sport sources have confirmed that the League Two newcomers are not prepared to sell Ethan Pinnock on the cheap and have turned down two approaches from Championship side Barnsley.

Ethan Pinnock played a pivotal part in Forest Green Rovers' promotion winning campaign, playing 40 games in all competitions as his side triumphed over Tranmere Rovers at Wembley.

The former Dulwich Hamlet defender plays predominantly as a left-sided centre back but has also played at left back or as a defensive midfielder on occasions for Forest Green since joining last summer.

Barnsley are looking at potential replacements for Marc Roberts, who has been attracting interest from the Premier League, and have identified Ethan Pinnock and Partick Thistle's Liam Lindsay as their top targets.

Many scouts have been to watch Pinnock in action this season with his performances not going unnoticed.

The 24-year-old is highly regarded by Forest Green Rovers, who are desperate to keep him for their League Two campaign next year.

Barnsley have been trying to poach Pinnock, though, and have lodged two formal bids for the versatile defender after choosing to firm up their interest.

As of yet, Forest Green Rovers have not budged and it remains to be seen whether the Tykes will return with a third bid.
