Interest from other clubs for Barnsley’s players shows they are in contention for an immediate return to the Championship.

Having to resist offers for your star players is always a good sign, regardless of being promoted or relegated, it shows your squad has value.

Even if Barnsley lose Tom Bradshaw or Kieffer Moore - or both — they shouldn’t find it too difficult to find a replacement.

Teams going down are usually decent odds to climb back up again at the first time of asking.

Whatever the future hold for those two player, or anyone in the squad that has interest in them;  decisions will need to be decisive and quick.

The Bradshaw saga is one that the Barnsley faithful would wish was resolved sooner rather than later.

If it rumbles on much longer, discontent could creep into the Tykes dressing room.

No club wants to a player at the club if they want to be elsewhere.

Handing in a transfer request is one way of engineer a move away from a club and that is something striker Tom Bradshaw has reportedly done.

Now it might not happen but history tells us when a player wants to go, they will find a way to go — regardless of their teammates.

Then there are the rare occasions when players will accept they aren’t leaving and will buckle down and just get on with it. Riyad Mahrez being the most recent example that comes to mind.

With or without Bradshaw, Barnsley should be well positioned to mount a promotion charge.

They should remain optimistic and should have expected interest from other clubs for players who shined in last year’s relegation campaign.

Bradshaw did not feature in Barnsley’s pre-season win over Salford City last night so if fans can take solace from that, then they might think they will be fine without him.

Time will tell if Barnsley’s resolve is enough to keep the nucleus of their squad together ahead of what is going to be a long and winding season ahead in League One.
