Barnsley attacker, Ryan Hedges is edging closing to the Oakwell exit door as he is set to undergo a medical with Scottish side, Aberdeen according to Football Insider.

The 23-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and Barnsley had previously confirmed that Hedges was one of the players offered a new contract by the club.

But Hedges seemingly has his eye on a move elsewhere, as he looks to find regular game time.

The Welshman was limited to just five league starts with Barnsley this season, as they won promotion back into the Championship.

Under Daniel Stendel's guidance, they have looked like the team to beat this season, and push Luton Town close for the League One title.

Hedges signed for Barnsley back in 2017 from Swansea, but has struggled for regular game time in his two seasons with the Yorkshire-based side.

Stendel will be hoping that he can add to his squad over the summer, as he looks to strengthen his squad to adjust to life back in the Championship.

The Verdict:

This is the best move for both parties.

I'm surprised that Barnsley even offered him a new deal, as he hasn't featured enough for them in their promotion-winning campaign.

They'll be able to find a good enough replacement for him in no time, and I think Barnsley could be made to regret not playing him on a more frequent basis.
