It's not been the ideal start to life back in the Championship for Barnsley, with the club currently sat bottom of the league table heading into November.

The Tykes were on a high heading into this year's campaign after they won promotion under the management of Daniel Stendel in a season to remember for everyone associated with the club.

After a win over Fulham on the opening day of this season, fans would have been confident of finding some stability in the second tier this time around.

But that hasn't been the case, with the Tykes having not won a league game since that win over Scott Parker's side back in August, which led to Barnsley parting company with Stendel.

The German was a hugely popular figure around Oakwell, and many fans weren't pleased to see the club relieve him on his duties after a dip in form.

Adam Murray took charge over the international break, and many supporters would have been hoping to see a new manager in place in the near future.

However, under Murray's guidance, Barnsley have shown improvement in their results, which will be pleasing to see for the club's supporters.

But they're still in a difficult position, which sees them sat bottom of the Championship table heading into the potentially season-defining festive period.

Some fans might feel as though Adam Murray is the right manager to take them forward this season, but their supporters have every reason to be concerned over his lack of managerial experience.

There are managers out there who have experience of managing at this level, and could prove to be a better fit than Murray is at Barnsley this season.

The club can't afford to be wasting any time in appointing a permanent manager though, as they're stuck in somewhat of a difficult position, which is unstable without a permanent boss being in place.

Even if they are to appoint Murray as their manager for the remainder of this year's campaign, then that's a step in the right direction, as it shows that they have a plan in place for the future.

They simply must get this next managerial appointment right though, otherwise they could be heading straight back into League One after just one season in the second tier.
