Barnsley defender Andy Yiadom has rejected a new contract offer in a bid to force through his move to Huddersfield Town, Sky Sports News are reporting.

Huddersfield Town are expected to complete the signing of Andy Yiadom shortly with a third bid expected shortly.

Barnsley have already rejected two bids from the newly promoted side, who are set for their first season in the top flight in the Premier League era, but a third bid is expected.

Huddersfield Town want to bring in Andy Yiadom to provide competition for Tommy Smith at right back in the Premier League.

Yiadom, who only joined Barnsley last summer from Barnet, is keen on the move and has rejected a contract offer to complete it.

The Ghana international signed a two year deal last summer and was offered an extension beyond the summer of 2018 but he wants to move to Barnsley's Yorkshire neighbours, Huddersfield Town instead.

Andy Yiadom is set for a meteoric rise through the ranks from non-league football to the Premier League.

Prior to winning promotion with Barnet in 2015, the versatile full back - who can also play on the wing - played for Hayes and Yeading United and Braintree Town in non-league.

Yiadom's exit will be another blow for the Tykes, who have seen a number of high profile players leave the club over the last year.

The Verdict

Barnsley will need to act quickly to bring in a new right back if Andy Yiadom does go.

In the January transfer window, they lost James Bree and now Yiadom's absence leaves them light in that department.

The 25-year-old is replaceable, though, if Barnsley can receive a decent fee for him.
