Andy Yiadom believes that the win was pivotal considering the pressure on them going into it.

Barnsley won 2-0 over Brentford in their last game to end the Bees hopes of finishing in the play-offs while also moving them out of the relegation spots at the expense of Bolton Wanderers.

This victory came at a key time because there is only one game remaining and it also ensured that Burton weren't able to leapfrog the Tykes after they were victorious over Bolton. However, they still have a tough away game remaining against Derby who are aiming to hold on to the last play-off spot while Burton travel to Preston who are waiting in the wings to take advantage of any slip up from the Rams, and Bolton host Nottingham Forest.

Barnsley captain Yiadom had this to say about the victory to Barnsley's official site:

"We went into the game knowing that we needed three points, and that a point or a loss wouldn’t really be good enough.

"We tried our best to get at them and put some pressure on them and I think, overall, we did that. We went and got the three points, which is massive.

"It helps a lot, but we set out to win on Saturday and against Derby so, off the back of this result, we’re confident that we can go and do that."

The Verdict

After a disappointing four game run in which they only picked up a point and failed to get a result in their game in hand, it looked like they were doomed to go down. However, this victory has changed things completely and they also benefitted from Burton beating Bolton.

It was a brilliant team performance from the Tykes when they needed it most which allows them to keep their fate in their own hands. However, it will be even tougher to pick up a result away at Pride Park. Therefore, they will probably have to rely on a Preston victory as well as Forest denying the Trotters a victory.
