Barnsley assistant manager Dale Tonge has provided an injury update on striker Cauley Woodrow ahead of the upcoming home clash with Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Tykes are no strangers to the Hatters, having been at loggerheads with the Bedfordshire club throughout the course of last season in pursuit of a promotion spot.

Both sides obviously won automatic promotion from League One, and will now be looking to cement their place in the second tier after a slow start to proceedings.

Daniel Stendel's side have picked up just one win in the Championship thus far which came against Fulham on opening day, and fell to a 2-0 defeat against Birmingham City at St. Andrew's in midweek.

Stendel's assistant Tonge has confirmed that Woodrow, who missed the clash in the West Midlands on Tuesday night, is "touch and go" for Saturday afternoon, and will be assessed on Friday afternoon via the Yorkshire Post's Leon Wobschall.

Woodrow has been an important figure for the Tykes since arriving at Oakwell from Fulham, with the 24-year-old opening his account for the season against Charlton Athletic last time out.

On Saturday, Barnsley come up against a Luton side that are also desperate for three points, having failed to win a game since returning to the Championship.

The Verdict

Barnsley fans will be praying that Woodrow returns to the side on Saturday afternoon, despite having plenty of quality in their attacking armoury.

He scored plenty of goals for the Tykes in League One last season, and would have been feeling full of confidence after scoring his first goal of the campaign last time out.

These are the games that Barnsley need to be winning if they want to stay in the Championship, and having Woodrow out would be a big blow.
