Barnsley have completed the signing of former Watford defender Reece Brown.
The centre-back who is the younger brother of Sunderland’s Wes Brown, has agreed a deal with the Tykes after impressing boss Danny Wilson whilst on trial at Oakwell.
The 22 year-old defender was a product of the academy of Manchester United but he never made a league appearance at Old Trafford. He took in five loan spells away from the club with Bradford, Doncaster, Oldham, Coventry and Ipswich before leaving the club in the summer of 2013.
Brown was signed by Watford last summer but has made only one appearance for the Hertfordshire club. The 22 year-old ended last season on loan at Carlisle, making 12 appearances for the Cumbrians.
The defender is Barnsley’s second signing of the day after left-back Joe Dudgeon joined the club on a month’s loan.
Brown becomes the eighth new signing at Barnsley this summer following relegation from the Championship at the end of last season.
The Tykes begin their league campaign against Crawley on August 9th.
