Barnsley ace rejects lucrative deal amid Premier League interest

Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed that Andy Yiadom has rejected a new deal at Barnsley, reports the Yorkshire Post’s, Leon Wobschall.
Yiadom’s future has been well speculated this summer, and with just 12-months remaining on his contract at Oakwell, he looks like he could be the next high-profile Barnsley player heading for the exit door after rejecting a new deal.

Huddersfield Town are one Premier League club reportedly interested in taking Yiadom away from Oakwell this summer, with the Terriers already seeing a bid rejected.
Latest reports indicated that David Wagner was prepared to meet Barnsley’s valuation, but Swansea City and Reading are also keen to sign the 25-year-old.
Yiadom has rejected the opportunity to become one of Barnsley’s top earners according to Heckingbottom, and should he leave, his exit will come just 12-months after he arrived in South Yorkshire.
During his time at Oakwell, Yiadom has made 33 appearances with 32 of those coming in the Sky Bet Championship.
It remains to be seen whether Yiadom adds to that tally this weekend, when Barnsley travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City for the first fixture of the 2017/18 campaign.
Heckingbottom confirmed that Barnsley had received no further bids for Yiadom.
The Verdict
Yiadom looks like the next high-profile exit from Oakwell after snubbing Barnsley’s offer of a new contract.
After the exit of key players last January, Barnsley will have been hoping they could retain the service of some key players this summer, but the departure of Marc Roberts, Marley Watkins and Josh Scowen has seriously weakened Heckingbottom’s squad.
Should Yiadom leave between now and the end of summer, Heckingbottom is going to have to act quickly to sign some real quality or face a difficult year in the Championship.
