West Brom have still not received payment from Barcelona for Louie Barry despite the youngster completing a move to the Spanish champions in the summer.

The 16-year-old was the latest high-profile player to emerge from Albion's academy and the club had high hopes for the striker. Despite offering him a three-year deal to stay at The Hawthorns, Barry opted to move to Barcelona ahead of rival interest from PSG.

The fact he moved abroad was a significant blow for the Baggies as it meant they were only entitled to £235,000 compensation, a figure which FIFA have set when youngsters who aren't professional yet move to foreign clubs.

Had he moved to another English club the Championship leaders would have been able to negotiate a fee or it would have been settled by a tribunal.

And, even though it is a tiny amount of money for Barcelona to pay, the Express & Star have revealed that West Brom are still waiting for the payment and are growing increasingly frustrated.

Barry made his first appearance for the Catalan's U19 side over the weekend.

The verdict

This isn't a good look at all from Barcelona when you look at the insane revenue they bring into the club.

It's bad enough for Albion that they lose one of the brightest talents they have had in the academy for next to nothing, never mind that they haven't even received the funds yet.

Of course, it will get sorted but you would hope that a club like Barcelona would have acted more professionally about the whole thing.
