West Brom are set to lose another talented youngster from their academy with Barcelona close to signing 15-year-old forward Louie Barry.
The Baggies have a good reputation for bringing through youth players over the years, although many have left The Hawthorns to join bigger clubs, with Izzy Brown moving to Chelsea in the past whilst Yan Dhanda and Jerome Sinclair left for Liverpool.
And, it appears another exciting teenager could be on the move with the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (15:52) revealing that Barry is on the verge of joining the Spanish giants.
They state that the striker has caught the eye of top clubs around Europe after scoring ten goals in five games for England’s U15s recently, and he was the top scorer for his country in the Val-de-Marne U16s tournament last year.
Since then, Barry has continued to impress and scored twice against Brazil as his reputation grew.
Even though he has been at Albion since he was six, it appears that a move to the Nou Camp will be hard to resist for the youngster.
Obviously this is another big blow for West Brom who will be frustrated that they’ve lost a lot of talented academy players over the years.
From Barry’s perspective you could argue that moving to Spain is a needless risk and it’s clearly going to be extremely hard to break through at Barcelona.
However, you can see why this move will appeal and the chance to learn at such a big club is huge and he will see this is an incredible opportunity.
