Bannan starts: The predicted Sheffield Wednesday XI to face Oxford tomorrow

Published

Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to build on their midweek win over Wigan Athletic this weekend as they prepare to play host to Oxford United at Hillsborough on Saturday.

The Owls ran out as 2-1 winners away at the DW Stadium on Tuesday night and as a result now find themselves sitting in ninth place as they continue to look towards breaking into the top six places in Sky Bet League One.

Darren Moore’s men have only lost two of their opening nine league games and currently have a game in hand on many of their divisional rivals.

Oxford United by comparison sit on level points with their hosts and have played a game more than the Steel City outfit at the time of writing.

Here, we predict the starting eleven that Wednesday could set out tomorrow against Oxford United tomorrow afternoon as the Owls look to win once again.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell has established himself as the clear and obvious number one choice between the sticks for the Owls and will undoubtedly keep his place for this game.

In defence, Marvin Johnson and Liam Palmer will once again act as the full backs, whilst Cheyenne Dunkley and Dominic Iorfa will look to remain solid at the heart of the backline against the Oxford attack.

In midfield, there could be one change, with Barry Bannan pushing for a recall after being an unused substitute during Tuesday’s win at Wigan.

The Wednesday skipper would could in alongside the likes of Jaden Brown, Lewis Wing and Dennis Adeniran as part of a midfield four.

Meanwhile the front two of Lee Gregory and Callum Paterson will once again look to cause havoc as they line up in their little and large partnership up top.

It promises to be a close game on paper between these two sides at Hillsborough tomorrow, with both having lofty ambitions of being in the mix for promotion come May next year.
