Nottingham Forest are set to battle Leeds United in the race to sign Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo this summer, according to London Football News.

The 26-year-old has been a hugely important player for the R's since his move from Swindon Town in 2015, making over 150 appearances for the West London club since his switch from the County Ground.

But the Australian international is currently facing an uncertain future at Loftus Road, with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season.

It is claimed by West London Sport that Luongo must take a pay cut if he wishes to extend his stay at Loftus Road due to financial issues off the pitch, and because that looks unlikely, they may look to cash in this summer rather than let him leave for free next year.

And, it is claimed that Forest and Leeds are interested in the box-to-box midfielder, who scored three goals and produced four assists for the R's last season.

Forest have already made one signing in the form of winger Sammy Ameobi this summer, as Martin O'Neill looks to reshape his squad ready for another push for promotion next season.
