Middlesbrough manager Garry Monk will have been delighted with the contribution of some of his younger players as a much-changed Boro ran out 2-0 winners in the Carabao Cup at Villa Park.

Admittedly, Villa themselves changed their entire team, but it was still an assured performance from the Teesside club.

One of the standouts was 18 year-old left-winger Marcus Tavernier.

He is the younger brother of James who plays right-back for Rangers and has clearly impressed his manager.

After he took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the night.

As well as a good goal return in the U-23 setup, the winger has featured in the two Carabao Cup ties this season, playing the full 90 minutes last night.

Fan were delighted with Tavernier's impact, particularly with the cross for Patrick Bamford that assisted the second goal and responded with positivity to his tweet.
