Tiemoue Bakayoko is one of a number of former teammates to reach out to Leeds United striker Jean-Kevin Augustin after he joined the Yorkshire club yesterday.

Leeds had been searching for a new striker since Eddie Nketiah was recalled by Arsenal at the start of the month but with the end of the window nearing, they have finally landed their man.

The Whites announced yesterday that they had signed Augustin on loan for the rest of the season and it has been reported that they're obligated to buy him for nearly £18 million if they're promoted.

The 22-year-old forward has featured for PSG, Leipzig, and Monaco, as well as the French age-group sides, and looks an exciting prospect.

He took to Instagram to send a message to fans after completing his move yesterday, revealing he was proud to have joined Leeds and excited to get started.

Plenty of former teammates were quick to send messages of support and encouragement to Augustin following the move, including Bakayoko, Danijel Subasic, Pietro Pellegri and Marcus Thuram.

The Verdict

Augustin only featured 10 times for Monaco while on loan at the French club during the first half of the season but appears to have been a popular member of the squad, given the number of teammates that messaged him after the move.

Noel Whelan indicated previously that there is a risk that the striker could have an attitude issue, however, his popularity amongst former teammates would suggest that may not be something the Whites have to worry about.

The addition of Augustin looks a fantastic one. Leeds needed to add some cover and competition for Patrick Bamford and the 22-year-old looks like someone that can do just that.

The focus can now shift back to ending the Whites' 16-year absence from the Premier League.
