Bailey Peacock-Farrell has insisted that his move to Burnley was the right decision, and insisted that he wasn't content to make do with a place on the substitutes bench in Marcelo Bielsa's squad this season.

The goalkeeper completed a move to the Premier League side during the summer transfer window, after struggling for game time in the Leeds squad after Kiko Casilla arrived at Elland Road in January 2019.

In an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post whilst on international duty with Northern Ireland, Peacock-Farrell spoke out on his move away from Leeds in the summer, which brought an end to a six-year association with the club.

"If I stay at Leeds I'll be staying at Leeds to play. The two scenarios would probably be I'm staying at Leeds and I'm playing or I'll have to be elsewhere I think.

"So the aim is to be playing football, I have to, for selfish reasons. I'm not one of those goalkeepers who's maybe content with sitting on the bench and picking up a wage."

The shot-stopper also admitted that it wasn't a difficult decision to leave Leeds, which certainly won't go down well with the Elland Road faithful, who will be hoping their team will make a long-awaited return to the Premier League this season.

"I don't think you could call it difficult, when a Premier League team comes calling.

"It's really hard for you to turn it down.

"It's an opportunity for me to grow, take the next step in my career and I feel like it's a good, solid place for me to build a foundation and improve myself."

The Verdict:

I think he's made a mistake in moving to Burnley if I'm being honest.

If he wasn't happy with being second choice at Leeds, then why an earth would you move to a Premier League side to be their third choice goalkeeper?

The only football he'll be getting with Burnley is in the cup competitions at best, and I thought he would have fancied his chances of replacing Kiko Casilla this season, after his poor performances towards the end of last year's campaign.
